Apply to Lead a Global GNI Chapter
We're looking for student researchers, writers, and community organizers who believe that every story deserves a place in the historical record. GNI chapter leaders are not simply project managers — they are the ones who ask the hard questions: whose voice is missing from their city's official history, and how do we bring it back? If you're the kind of person who notices the gaps, who listens for what's not being said, and who refuses to let a story disappear just because it wasn't written down, you belong here. You don't need to have a polished research proposal or a fully formed project idea. You need to care about the work, be willing to learn, and be ready to build something that outlasts you.
Our Global Chapter Leaders are the researchers, writers, and community builders who carry GNI's mission. They identify overlooked stories, train local teams, and ensure that the voices in their communities become part of a shared global archive.
GNI currently has active research chapters across the world, including the United States, Canada, Singapore, Dubai, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Nanjing. Our first volume has been published, and the second is already in progress. This is a growing global network — and a project that is actively being written into history.
We are looking for individuals who:
Are passionate about narrative preservation and community storytelling
Have strong communication and organizational skills
Are curious, self-driven, and open to learning
Want to build something that lasts beyond themselves
Are willing to commit to a meaningful, long-term project
What the role involves:
Identifying a community or story in your region that deserves documentation
Recruiting and leading a local research team
Conducting oral history interviews and archival research
Collaborating with the global GNI network
Contributing to the growing digital archive
